The State Leader role is reserved for students who demonstrate exceptional initiative, discipline, and leadership potential.
Applicants must:
• Be a current high school student (Grades 9–12 or international equivalent).
• Reside in the state they seek to represent.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher (unweighted), or the equivalent standard within international grading systems.
• Commit to serving a full academic-year term.
• Dedicate approximately 3–5 hours per week to strategic leadership responsibilities.
• Demonstrate a record of initiative, intellectual rigor, and measurable impact.

State Leaders serve as ActDefy’s official representatives within their state. Responsibilities may include:
Leading state-wide initiatives
Recruiting and supporting members/chapters
Coordinating advocacy efforts across chapters
Hosting meetings or events
Building partnerships with schools and community leaders
No. This is a volunteer leadership role designed to provide meaningful experience in advocacy, policy, and organizational leadership.
The State Leader program is highly selective. We are seeking highly motivated students who demonstrate initiative, vision, and commitment to impact. Typically, 1-2 students per state, depending on state size.
On average, 3–5 hours per week. This may increase during large initiatives or events. We also require attendance/compliance with monthly meetings and monthly reports.
Yes. Students in all high school grade levels are encouraged to apply.
Yes. Additional leadership roles (e.g., Deputy or Regional positions) may be available depending on your state’s needs/size.
